And the Trailer function is a great starting point (you can find my iMovieTrailer storyboards <a href=\"http:\/\/www.benschersten.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/imovie-trailer-storyboards-updated\/\">here<\/a>). But remember, it&#8217;s just that &#8211; it&#8217;s just a starting point. Most of the teachers I know who have used it for a student project come away from the experience saying, &#8220;that was great, but now that I get it I wish it could do more.&#8221; Fortunately, you can.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-604 alignright\" alt=\"photo (2)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.benschersten.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-2-300x162.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"162\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.benschersten.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-2-300x162.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.benschersten.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-2-500x270.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.benschersten.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-2.jpg 819w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You see, the Trailer function is a lot like a coloring book; all you can do is color in the lines. Sure, you can assign a project to your students using the Trailers and they&#8217;ll all come out different, but they&#8217;ll also all kind of be the same. It&#8217;s like a coloring book: each kid can use different colors, but they all kind of end up with the same picture.<\/p>\n<p>So use the Trailers, and then grow out of them. Start using the Movie function. Start drawing with a blank piece of paper. There&#8217;s so much more you can do.<\/p>\n<p>And here&#8217;s a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.benschersten.com\/blog\/2014\/03\/imovie-trailers-and-coloring-books\/imovie-storyboard-google-drive\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-608\">generic iMovie Movie storyboard<\/a>.
